This was a bit different than I expected, but turned out to be a positive in the end. As a purchase for my teenager, this was a great fit for his zombie fanatic self. He enjoyed reading through the notes and bits of information to see if he could discover any hidden clues or secrets to the book. He liked that this seemed like things you might really find, left behind in a zombie attack situation.

I read this myself, as I often do with books I am not quite sure about giving to the kids. The names, dates, pieces and parts gave it a more real feeling with raw emotion that you could feel in the pages. I like that this was created by different people with unique viewpoints from across the world. Each bit and part lends a new view on how things were perceived by different people. This gave it an even more realistic feel to it, making it seem like a scrapbook you would find in the aftermath..if anyone survived to make one that is.

My only complaint is that I would have liked to see more. I got into the book and then it was over. It would have been that much better had it been longer, and with more little bits of horror to page through.

Although I thought this book was an actual novel, it did not. The book is filled with notes people left behind, but when you begin reading each note, it does feel eerie. I'd reccomend to zombie buffs.
Very cool zombie book that literally offers...snippets of whats going on in the zombie apocalypse. Messages written on notebook paper, shreads of garbage..whatever. Each piece makes you create stories in your mind
I don't even like zombie stuff that much. But I saw this book on twitter and was really captivated by it. I even re-read it occasionally lol! it's a fun book and definitely worth owning if you enjoy post-apocolyptic stuff like I do.
This book was outstanding! I usually feel kind of cheated when I read a book that is rather short and still expensive compared to others but not this time.

It wasn't long enough and left me wishing for more. You will smirk at some of the notes and cry at others. The actual book is a collection of notes and letters that were written by people all over the world just like they were actually living through a zombie apocalypse. Some are incomplete (torn paper), some are are scratch paper, and some are written by children. Love the concept and the execution is amazing.

As a writer, I kept saying, "Wow. I never thought of that aspect of a zombie outbreak." This book portrays the very human side of the story, in greater -- sometimes far more poignant -- depth than you'd guess, on first glance.

Do not overlook this book because it seems merely cute or funny or gimmicky. Especially for writers working in the zombie genre, this is a tremendous resource.
I loved this book when it first came out. it was touching, terrifying, and showed both the deepest depravity of humanity in a zombie-apocalypse as well as humanity at it's most heart-wrenchingly painful. (Let's face it, there's no nobility to be found in a zombie apocalypse.) I joined their community trying to figure out how to submit my own videos or journal entries for the project...

Then the community fell apart, and it became a cesspit. It's sad, but the book is still a worthwhile buy for anyone who enjoys zombie-apocalypse genre. There IS a plot, but there's not really a coherent story to it. just a collection of notes found after the dead rise and overthrow the living.
I first came across this book in a Hastings a few years ago and meant to return to purchase it a few days later. When I got to the store, it was gone, and now it makes sense. This book is fantastic. Its premise is that it is a collection of notes found before and during a zombie apocalypse. It is different from most other zombie-themed books in that it shows a scarily visceral aspect to it. The fear is seen in the sloppy handwriting of various characters, some recurring and others lost after the first sighting. The uncertainty is almost tangible. It creates this immersive world without a single depiction of a zombie, and it is such a refreshing change from what the zombie business normally churns out. The quality of the scans is impressive. Some of them are so high quality that you can see the pressure depth of the ballpoint pen.

This book is a must-have for any zombie lover. Even if you've only seen like, one episode of The Walking Dead and thought it was just okay, you will love this book. I keep it on my coffee table because it's a great conversation piece and can be read again and again.
